Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all classes, workshops, retreats and other events provided by Jo Lovell Yoga, including online and recorded classes. By making a booking, you agree to these terms.

Health and participation

Yoga involves physical movement and may sometimes be physically demanding. You are responsible for practising within your own capabilities, following the instructions given and stopping if you experience pain, dizziness, unusual discomfort or other concerning symptoms. Please consult an appropriate healthcare professional before participating if you have any concerns about your health or ability to practise yoga.

A completed Registration Form is required from every student before attending. Please provide accurate information about any injury, medical condition, pregnancy, recent surgery or other circumstance that may affect your practice.

You must tell Jo about any relevant changes to your health before participating in a class or other event. This allows the teaching to be adapted where appropriate, although it may not always be possible to accommodate every condition safely within a group class.

Participation is at your own risk, except that nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Physical adjustments

Physical adjustments may occasionally be offered to help students understand or refine a posture. Jo will seek your permission before adjusting you.

You may decline an adjustment at any time, without needing to provide a reason. Please tell Jo if you would prefer not to receive physical adjustments or if there are particular areas of your body that should not be touched.

Bookings and payment

Your place is confirmed once full payment, or any specified deposit, has been received.

Bookings are personal to you and cannot be transferred to another person. Payments for regular classes cannot be transferred to workshops, retreats or other events, or vice versa.

Regular classes are normally booked and paid for by the term. The length of each term will be stated when booking.

If you decide not to continue, please give as much notice as possible before the following term begins so that your place can be offered to another student.

Missed classes

No refund or credit is available for a class you miss during a term.

Where available, you may be offered a suitable alternative class or an online recording. This is offered at Jo’s discretion, subject to availability, and cannot be guaranteed.

Missed classes, credits and recordings cannot be carried forward to a later term.

Cancellations and refunds

If you cancel your booking for a full term at least five days before the term begins, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel with less than five days’ notice, a refund will only be given if your place can be filled or at Jo’s discretion.

Once a term, workshop, retreat or other event has begun, payments are normally non-refundable. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Some events, particularly retreats and yoga holidays, may require a non-refundable deposit and have separate cancellation terms. These will be clearly explained before you book.

If Jo Lovell Yoga cancels an event, you will be offered a transfer, credit or refund for the affected session or event.

Jo Lovell Yoga may make reasonable changes to dates, times, venues, teachers or delivery arrangements when necessary. If circumstances beyond Jo’s reasonable control prevent an event from taking place as planned, an appropriate alternative, credit or refund will be offered where reasonably possible.

Online classes and recordings

Before taking part in an online or recorded class, make sure that you have sufficient clear space, suitable equipment and a safe surface on which to practise.

Online teaching may limit Jo’s ability to observe you or provide individual guidance. You remain responsible for deciding whether an instruction is appropriate for you and for practising within your capabilities.

Recordings are provided solely for your personal use. They must not be copied, recorded, shared, uploaded, distributed, sold or used for commercial teaching without written permission from Jo Lovell Yoga. All recordings and their content remain the intellectual property of Jo Lovell Yoga.

Photography and filming

Photographs or videos will only be taken for promotional or social-media purposes when students have been informed.

You will be given a clear opportunity to opt out, and you may change your mind at any time. Choosing not to be photographed or filmed will not affect your ability to participate.

Conduct and safety

Please:

  • Arrive in sufficient time to prepare for the class.
  • Follow the teacher’s safety instructions.
  • Switch mobile phones off or place them on silent.
  • Do not take photographs or make audio or video recordings without permission.
  • Use your own yoga equipment unless shared equipment is specifically provided.
  • Treat the teacher, venue and other students with consideration and respect.

Jo may refuse or discontinue participation where there is a reasonable concern about safety, where the class is not suitable for a student’s current needs, or where behaviour is disruptive or affects other students. Wherever possible, Jo will discuss the concern with the student and suggest a more appropriate alternative.
