Active Relaxation

Through supported poses held for extended periods, restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting deep relaxation and stress reduction. Conscious breathing techniques in pranayama, calm the nervous system, alleviating stress and promoting a sense of peace.

The relaxation response induced by restorative poses can enhance sleep quality, helping to alleviate insomnia and promote a restful night's sleep. Certain pranayama techniques, are known to soothe the nervous system, contributing to better sleep patterns.

Pranayama - Conscious Breathing

The supported nature of restorative poses allows a heightened awareness of the body. Mindful breathwork in pranayama enhances the mind-body connection, promoting a deeper understanding of one's physical and energetic self.

Extending the breath in restorative poses contributes to improved lung capacity and respiratory function.

Specific pranayama techniques,  invigorate the respiratory system, enhancing its efficiency. The meditative quality of restorative practices cultivates emotional balance, offering time for self-reflection and introspection. Mindful breath control in pranayama fosters mental clarity, reducing mental chatter and promoting a focused, calm mind.
